This position requires travel 1 day week to Brooklyn

Position Overview:

Hospital for Special Surgery, #1 in Orthopedics for the last 13 years and is currently looking for an experienced and energetic Full - Time Medical Assistant for one of our physician offices. Dr. Gabriella Ode is a Sports Medicine Surgeon who specializes in shoulder, elbow, and knee injuries. In this role you will assist the provider with outpatient office visits, as well as provide administrative support to an HSS physician practice and contribute to an environment of clinical excellence.


The primary clinical tasks are: patient rooming, injection set up and phlebotomy.

The primary administrative tasks are: answering phones, scheduling appointments, checking out patients, assisting with new patient questionnaires, chart review, patient call backs.


Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent (Associates Degree preferred) and at least two years of experience in an ambulatory practice setting. A Medical Assistant Certification from an Accredited Program is also required.

Competencies/skills:
  • Confirm radiology services have been completed prior to physician visits.
  • Ability to follow through with tasks to completion
  • Ability to escalate issues appropriately
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of healthcare and health insurance
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team; offers to help coworkers when needed
  • Serve as an ambassador in patient flow and care operations, and outreach to referring practices.
  • Assist patients with wayfinding and transport (e.g., wheelchair) throughout the site.
  • Coordinating patient intake, answering patient calls, scheduling appointments, following up with and tracking patients after surgery, documentation, and assisting in scribing during patient visits.
  • Assist in managing patient information, uploading CD images & making copies of pertinent exams.
  • Detail-oriented
  • Answering phones, scheduling patient appointments, checking out patients, collecting copays and assist with patient call backs.
  • Assist with patient rooming tasks (i.e., medication reconciliation, medical history, vital signs, height/weight, fall assessment, pain scale etc.).
  • Experience with Epic Medical Records System required; strong computer skills required as well
  • Consistently displays a positive attitude towards one’s work and work environment
  • Ensure patient care areas and nurses’ station are neat and presentable.
  • Perform chart review.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and general office protocol required.
  • Assist patients with filling out questionnaires and assessment forms.
  • Ability to effectively and accurately follow directions or instructions
