Medical Assistant
Dr. Sariah Khormaee

Hospital for Special Surgery, #1 in Orthopedics for the last 13 years and is currently looking for an experienced and energetic Part-Time Medical Assistant for one of our physician offices. Dr. Sariah Khormaee is a spine surgeon with expertise treating adult and pediatric spine conditions. In this role you will assist the provider with outpatient office visits, as well as provide administrative support to an HSS physician practice and contribute to an environment of clinical excellence.

Competencies/skills:
  • Coordinating patient intake, answering patient calls, scheduling appointments, following up with and tracking patients after surgery, documentation, and assisting in scribing during patient visits.
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and general office protocol required.
  • Knowledge of healthcare and health insurance
  • Experience with Epic Medical Records System required; strong computer skills required as well
  • Ability to effectively and accurately follow directions or instructions
  • Confirm radiology services have been completed prior to physician visits.
  • Serve as an ambassador in patient flow and care operations, and outreach to referring practices.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Assist patients with wayfinding and transport (e.g., wheelchair) throughout the site.
  • Consistently displays a positive attitude towards one’s work and work environment
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
  • Maintain efficient patient throughput and clinic flow.
  • Ability to escalate issues appropriately
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team; offers to help coworkers when needed
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to follow through with tasks to completion
  • Assist patients with filling out questionnaires and assessment forms.
  • Perform chart review.
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent (Associates Degree preferred) and at least two years of experience in an ambulatory practice setting.
