Your Impact
Poseida is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated candidate to join our Immuno-Oncology team to develop novel chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies for hematologic and solid tumors. The Scientist will leverage Poseida’s cell engineering technologies to drive core discovery efforts in CAR-T cell development, including the evaluation, optimization and identification of novel CAR binders and gene edits to improve our allogeneic CAR T platform. In this role, the Scientist will have direct impact by contributing to our discovery efforts and the development of next generation CAR T products from preclinical studies through IND-enabling studies which will drive Poseida’s mission to cure cancer patients.
Position Summary
The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of T cell biology and will thrive in a team environment with a focus on developing next-generation CAR-T cell products. The Scientist will design, coordinate, and perform experiments, and will present data to key stakeholders at internal company meetings. In addition, the Scientist will support Poseida’s CAR-T cell therapy pipeline programs in a matrixed and highly collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
These may include but are not limited to:
- Drive efforts to develop next-generation CAR-T cell therapies
- Hands-on, laboratory-based role including experiment design and execution, analyze and critically review results, and communicate findings in team meetings
- Design, execute experiments to support core discovery programs
- Interrogate CAR-T cell activity using in vitro and in vivo assays
- Work and communicate effectively in a highly matrixed team environment to advance the company’s cell therapy pipeline
- Apply critical and methodical thinking to interpret results and implement new strategies to advance and develop Poseida’s Immuno-Oncology platforms
Requirements, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience in developing in vivo models and executing in vivo studies
- Demonstrated expertise in cellular immunology, molecular biology, and flow cytometry is required
- Hands-on experience in developing and characterizing CAR-T cell products is highly preferred
- Proficiency in assays interrogating T cell function, such as cellular activation, proliferation, and functional assays (killing and cytokine release)
- Highly proficient in multi-parameter flow cytometry and FACS
- Experience analyzing and interpreting large, complex data sets - experience with ‘omics’ methods for cell characterization is a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with proven ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- PhD or equivalent in immunology, molecular biology, or related field, and 2 plus years of experience in the cell therapy field, in industry or academia (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
- Ability to organize, communicate and present program progress to key stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
- Highly proficient in molecular biology techniques, such as restriction-based/Gibson cloning, PCR, qPCR, in vitro transcription, and Western blot
Research Scientist salary range (education/experience guidelines are PhD with 0 plus years of experience): $90,000 to $113,000 per year.
Research Scientist II salary range (education/experience guidelines are PhD with 2 plus years of experience): $100,000 to $125,000 per year.
Senior Research Scientist salary range (education/experience guidelines are PhD with 5 plus years of experience): $114,000 to $143,000 per year.
The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience with the industry, education, geographic location, etc
