Job Description
The Research Data Coordinator will development, management, and modification of existing RedCap data base of primary liver cancer as part of the Liver Cancer SPORE program. Under the approval of IRB, the research person will be responsible for coding data and constructing a new data structure to synchronize with the parent database for direct uploading specific epidemiological and clinical data of liver cancer patients from Epic electronic medical records. Research person also will be responsible for merging the RedCap database with the pathology database to identify patients with available tissue resources from tissue bank will be required to update the SPORE RedCap database.
**This is a part-time 20 hour benefit eligible position**
The salary range for the position is min $ 17,250 mid $ 21,500 max $ 25,750.
Data Management 45%
  • Coordinates all aspects of study data collection and performs tasks including entering and overseeing data collection operations, ensure all data is entered appropriately.

  • Develop, modify, and maintain existing RedCap database including addition of new variables, change forms and tables.

  • Coordinates and reviews new and existing protocols for data management requirements.

  • Maintains relevant study databases, run queries and reports to monitor data quality.

  • Conducts chart-reviews to ensure completeness and accuracy of study data collection.

  • Maintains current knowledge on EPIC tools for research queries and data extraction.

  • Extracts clinical data from electronic health records and assists in the collection of missing and delinquent data from study participants.

  • Compiles data for project updates, reports and manuscript submission; participates in evaluation, analysis and writing of content.

  • Is proficient with using tracking systems e.g. MS Excel, Access, RedCap.

  • Revises, updates and formats surveys and other data collection instruments as needed.

  • Performs other duties related to data management as needed.

Research Study Coordination 45%
  • Communicate with PI and research team when necessary through oral and written communication regarding project related issues and/or patient care issues.

  • Attend and participate in research team meetings and other regularly scheduled project meetings aimed at discussing recruitment goals/status, protocol and/or procedural changes.

  • Collaborate with Pathology Core Leader to identify patients with available tissue resources from tissue bank.

  • Performs other duties related to study compliance and assurance

  • Access Epic electronic system to access patients' medical records for obtaining essential epidemiological and clinical data of patients with primary liver cancer.

  • Contributes to update of standard operating procedure manuals for research studies.

Research Administrative activities: 10%
  • Search and review literature in pertinent areas preparing written reports as necessary and assist in manuscript submission to journals, photocopy, organize, and maintain journal articles.

  • Maintain and update research consortium website contents.

  • Performs other duties related to research administrative activities as needed.

  • Update the website of the Liver SPORE with all new changes in the RedCap database.

EDUCATION:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred degree: Bachelor's degree in psychology with knowledge of medical terminology and RedCap database structure.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Two years of related experience. With preferred degree, no experience required.
Preferred: Two years of experience with Epic electronic system of patients' records. Knowledge of RedCap database development and management. IRB protocol modification and corresponding with the office of research at MD Anderson for monitoring changes in the study protocol.
