Senior Scientist - Global Gas Analysis

Servomex, the world leader in gas analysis and part of the FTSE 250 Spectris Group on the London Stock Exchange, are excited to be searching for a Senior Scientist to lead new product and new technology development in gas analysis by means of Tunable Diode Laser (TDL) spectroscopy.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering of our Purity and Specialty Business Unit, the experienced Scientist will utiize their high level of expertise in laser spectroscopy and gas analysis to translate technological innovation to real world marketable products. About the Opportunity:

• Key focus on the maintenance and expansion of the IP base of the corporation through patents, trade secret development, and published works
• A high level of detailed technical competence in laser spectroscopy and gas analysis with a strong understanding of the vacuum capital equipment industries
• Knowledge, expertise and experience to make significant contributions on an individual level while participating as a member of a cohesive team of technology, business, and manufacturing professionals
• Keeping current with the technology and requirements of the semiconductor manufacturing, Ultra High Purity gas application, and live science communities through trade shows, relevant society involvement and customer contact
• Experience in a technology leadership role would be advantageous

About your Talent:

Essential Experience and Skills:

• Capability to develop scientific goals and direct a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technical support personnel
• Strong and proven background in the development and application of innovative technologies in the areas of gas analyzers and laser spectroscopy
• Extensive knowledge of 2D and 3D finite element modelling techniques in support of mechanical and thermal analysis
• Possess demonstrated ability to translate the technological innovation to real world marketable products that expand Servomex’s product offerings

Desirable Experience and Skills:

• Capability to develop scientific goals and direct a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technical support personnel
• Strong record of scientific publications and patents

Essential Education / Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree in Physical Chemistry, Physics, Engineering or a related field of science
• Master's degree may qualify if combined with substantive and progressive directly relevant experience and training

Desirable Education / Qualifications:

• Understanding of the analytical methods that define rarified flow of gases, outgassing, conductance, pumping speed, RGA interpretation and gauging
• Knowledge of materials characterization methods; experience with analytical tools (SEM, EDX, X-ray diffraction, AES/XPS etc)
• Familiarity with SEMI, AVS and related standards will be an asset
