The Department of Public Health and Community Medicine is a research and teaching department of the medical school. Our faculty currently represents a range of disciplines, including public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, medicine, nutrition, environmental health, and health policy. Our activities include community-based and clinical research on a wide-array of public health topics and the education of medical and graduate students in health-related masters programs including the Master of Public Health.
This position is in the SKEER Lab. Developing and implementing innovative substance use interventions to prevent risk, improve health & behavioral outcomes, and reduce disparities. To learn more about the lab and research, visit the lab page here.
What You'll Do:- Writes and prepares manuscripts and presentations for publication
- Regularly runs, presents, and interprets data reports for study team
- Codes qualitative video data using codebook
- Manages all participant communication, including: retention activities, participant compensation and the general flow of participants through the study timeline
- May also be involved in other Skeer Lab projects, as needed
- Develops and executes data analysis plans using SAS, SPSS, and/or Stata
- Supervises part-time research assistants and data coding teams including: assignment of work, regular check-ins with team members, and monitoring data quality

Basic Requirements:
- Knowledge and experience typically acquired through a completion of Master’s degree in public health, biostatistics, or related field, and at least one year of related experience
- Strong writing skills
- Ability to take responsibility for assignments and work both independently and as part of a team
- Experience writing and preparing scientific manuscripts
- Proficient in data analysis software (e.g. Stata, SPSS, SAS, R)
- Ability to work successfully under pressure, understands and follows policies and procedures, and accommodates change
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience interfacing with participants, clients, and/or patients
- Ability to handle confidential materials with discretion
- Written and verbal fluency in Spanish
- Coursework in research methodology
- Coursework in data analysis
