The Department of Laboratory Medicine serves as a regional resource for clinical laboratory services required for patient care, research, and educational programs in laboratory medicine. The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology department has an outstanding opportunity for a LAB ASSISTANT (FULL-TIME, NIGHT-SHIFT)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Obtains specimens from inpatients, outpatients and outreach accounts according to the time guidelines established by the department
  • Logs tests in the computer, labels, centrifuges, prepares aliquots, and delivers specimens
  • Processes, prepares and ships reference lab samples, according to reference laboratory specifications
  • Answers technical questions relating to laboratory procedures and polices
  • Troubleshoots and resolves problems and customer service issues
  • As assigned, locates patient results and generates reports/faxes.
  • Cleans, maintains, and stocks exam and work areas
  • May be required to drive a hospital-owned vehicle as a function of job

    REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Phlebotomists are required to have an active Washington State issued MA-Phlebotomist Certification
  • If required to drive as part of job, incumbent must possess a valid Washington State driver's license with clean driving record
  • MED ASST PHLEBOTOMIST CERT - WA State
