Summary
Provides high level analytical support to the company primarily related to techno-economical analysis to support capital project investment decisions, life cycle analysis and new business opportunities. Seeks to ensure the business and strategic plan reflect the latest commercial and technology advancements to support short to medium term strategic decision making.
Key Responsibilities
1- Leading detailed technical and business analysis of Virent’s technologies to support business and strategic planning activities. Areas of analysis include process techno-economics, capital project investment, feedstock supply, product value, life cycle and greenhouse gas emissions and legislative impacts
2- Translate R&D data and technology advancements into commercial metrics that support strategic decision making. This includes interacting with Leadership, R&D and Engineering staff on a two-way exchange of information to ensure the business and strategic plan reflect the latest commercial and technology advancements.
3- Performs executive level business analysis and creates presentations and written documentation explaining performance for the entire value chain.
4- Maintains a working knowledge of cross-functional performance drivers. Researches new business and legislative developments and ensures that business plans accurately reflect the current environment.
5- Works with complex, multiparty data residing in various locations to develop a comprehensive view of current and new business opportunities.
6- Performs business support, analysis, project management, or other various rolls to support strategic initiatives in an agile company setting as needed.
Requirements
EDUCATION
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering. Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering with an MBA or commensurate experience in Business Analysis.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of process engineering and/or research with experience in business analysis.
  • Preferred: 7-10 years of experience in process engineering and/or research with two years of direct experience in business analysis. Experience with projects and management in multidisciplinary environments and working with small and large companies.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
  • Experience in financial analysis
  • GREET, GaBi, Oracle Crystal Ball, Microsoft Project and SharePoint, experience preferred
  • Experience in novel process development and resulting impacts on techno-economic analysis from simulation results
  • Experience in life cycle analysis for U.S. fuels regulations
  • Ability to meet time sensitive deadlines and requirements
  • Knowledge of discounted cash flow analysis as relating to capital project investments, US tax regulations and project finance
  • Advanced Excel proficiency
