Position Overview
The Regulatory Program Specialist independently tracks, analyzes, and summarizes applicable Federal and State legislations, laws, and regulations in the context of OCHIN and its member organizations. The Regulatory Program Specialist will be OCHIN’s Subject Matter Expert (SME) for healthcare and health IT related regulations, supported by Compliance Manager and Compliance Officer. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
The Regulatory Program Specialist will interface with Government Affairs team in tracking and preparing OCHIN for potential regulatory changes and impacts. When new laws and regulations are issued/finalized, the Regulatory Specialist will advise the Project Management effort to implement any necessary changes, and/or document how OCHIN is meeting the new requirements.
The Regulatory Specialists will collaborate within OCHIN, with its member organizations to address regulatory concerns by providing interpretation and operational impact analysis.
The Regulatory Specialists will contribute to the development of training materials for internal staff, clients, and member organizations.
  • Reviews, revises, and/or drafts policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements
  • HRSA compliance requirements
  • Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA)
  • No Surprise Billing Act
  • Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic (FD&C) Act and related FDA regulations
  • Monitors the regulatory landscape to stay apprised of upcoming changes to existing laws and new laws that will impact OCHIN and our members
  • Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS)
  • Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic (FD&C) Act and related FDA regulations as applicable to medical devices
  • Performs gap analysis and draft remediation plans as needed
  • Summarizes complex laws and regulations in the context of OCHIN’s operations
  • Long Term Care Hospitals Payment System
  • Privacy laws
  • Maintains a body of knowledge regarding all health care and health IT laws and regulations, including but not limited to:
  • Conducts research to address questions from various operational areas that are impacted by laws and regulations
  • Reviews, revises, and/or drafts policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements

  • Provides guidance to various stakeholders on critical initiatives and projects
  • Physician Self-Referral Law (Stark Law)
Requirements
  • Degrees in Law, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Compliance, or related field. Advanced degrees (i.e. MA, MS, MBA, LLM, JD) preferred but not required.
  • Two years’ experience working in a healthcare regulatory affairs department.
  • Proven success in regulatory affairs in a healthcare setting.
  • Comfortable presenting training materials in front of small and medium sized groups (5 – 50 individuals).
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Sharepoint.
  • Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) preferred, or ability to obtain certification within two years.
  • Applicable healthcare industry experience such as experience with hospitals, FQHC’s, and governmental healthcare regulations are desired.
Salary Description
Min - $77,235 Mid-$96,544 Max - $115,852
