Storm4 are currently working with a fantastic, fast-growing Series B FoodTech company focusing on using technology to break down barriers that keep us from eating fresh produce! They are using gene editing techniques to transform plants and the production systems they are built on by combining gene edited products faster and more effectively.

With their recent Series B fund-raise, they are scaling, and are searching for a a Sr. Specialist for their Regulatory team to work closely with the scientific teams, external stakeholders, and regulators in facilitating and enabling domestic and international shipments and use of seeds, plants, and plant parts by ensuring compliance with biotechnology, phytosanitary, and other applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee phytosanitary inspections, SOPs, and other documentation associated with the movement and use of seeds, plants, and plant parts domestically and internationally
• Develop and track metrics related to regulatory compliance
• Represent company in trade association regulatory committees as needed; provide input into policy development, draft public comments, pilot programs, and monitor relevant regulations
• Identify regulatory requirements and assist in preparation of documentation required for import, export, re-export, and customs compliance for the shipment of seeds, plants, and plant parts domestically and internationally
• Communicate with regulatory agencies, technical experts, and other functions within
• Execute on regulatory compliance strategy by proactively and efficiently guiding R&D and Commercial Teams through required processes for biotechnology and/or phytosanitary compliance; develop or conduct regulatory compliance training as needed
• Use USDA systems to obtain and maintain permits

Qualifications

• Knowledge of APHIS administrative procedures and regulations
• Prior experience with state or federal PPOs, including use of eFile, ePermits, and/or PCIT and familiarity with ISPMs relevant to seeds, plants, and plant parts
• Experience interacting with state, federal, or international regulators (preferred)
• Travel 10-20% percent - (possibly international)
• Must be able to eAuthenticate
• BS in biology, crop science, plant pathology, agricultural business, or related field, graduate degree preferred, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience working in agricultural biotechnology and/or phytosanitary regulatory or similar
