Regulatory Advisor Jobs

Metro Customs Brokers, a subsidiary of Omnitrans Inc., is looking for a Regulatory Advisor to join its Customs Brokerage division.

As a Regulatory Advisor this person will provide exceptional Customs Consulting Services to customers while ensuring compliance with Customs and trade regulations, corporate policies, standards and values.

Work Location: New York City Area, Garden City, Rouses Point or Buffalo.

Your day-to-day:

• Perform customer site visits as necessary.
• Standard CF28/CF29 audits
• Consulting and resolution of
• Marking Notices
• Increased duty bill processing
• Resolve customer complaints and disputes in an effective and timely manner (tariff classification, claims, etc.).
• Conduct research pertaining to Customs regulatory issues.
• Post summary corrections
• Provide guidance and counsel to our Importer customers with regards to their Customs and trade practices.
• Reconciliation submissions
• Individual assignments may also include but are not limited to:
• Conduct research and provide proper opinion for classification and tariff treatment; update and maintain customer product profiles.
• Assist with training of internal staff as subject matter expert
• 514 Protests
• PGA consulting and profiling (APHIS, CPSC, FDA, FWS, etc)
• Seizure and detention notices
• Temporary Import Bonds & NAFTA Duty Deferral
• Preparation of binding ruling requests
• Superseding bonds
• Government entry processing
• Support Prior Disclosure initiatives
• Mock audit
• USMCA & TPL Audits via CF28
• 520(d) NAFTA claims

What you bring:

• Ability to negotiate and build strong trade relationships.
• Candidate must have excellent writing skills.
• Ability to multitask; very organized, high degree of communication and analytical skills.
• Thorough understanding of International Business and trading practices.
• Must have strong classification and appraisement skills, having 2 or more years’ experience in this area.
• Completion of University degree or equivalent experience.
• Excellent working knowledge of Title 19 of the Code of Federal Regulations and United States Code.
• Strong research skills & a natural problem solver.
• 5+ years of comparable Customs Operations experience.
