The Environmental Engineering and Consulting team delivers solutions for complex environmental challenges using our regulatory expertise and implementing practical and cost-effective compliance management processes and programs. We address our clients’ biggest concerns around permitting, ecoservices, assessment, and remediation.


Our highly trained and experienced engineers and scientists, environmental and remediation specialists, geologists, hydrogeologists, biologists, and environmental compliance specialists work with both public- and private-sector clients, delivering turnkey solutions.


A DAY IN THE LIFE


The Project Scientist will be a Remote position but based in the Florida Panhandle (Pensacola, FL area).


The Project Scientist position directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organizing, control, integration, and completion of geological projects within area of assigned responsibility – primarily PFAS investigations, Environmental Remediation, Site Assessment, RCRA/CERCLA Investigations, Site Restoration. The Project Scientist is experienced in managing environmental projects at the field operational level, and supervising field teams and subcontractors managing both the internal team performance and client expectations.


  • Coordinate and implement large field efforts related to environmental investigation including Preliminary Assessments, Site Inspections, and Remedial Investigations.
  • Coordinate and direct field staff performing sampling of groundwater, soil, and other environmental media
  • Perform site visits, field observations, and field data collection related to RCRA, CERCLA, and state environmental cleanup programs.
  • Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attend professional workshops
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Participate in the company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts
  • Interface with federal, municipal, and private sector clients pertaining to specific projects/tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs
  • Prepare reports, tables, maps, drawings, and visual aids to evaluate, plan and obtain regulatory approval on project recommendations.
  • Lead and direct the planning of environmental investigations and provide analysis and interpretation of data to identify data gaps and recommend changes to the investigative approach.
  • Supervise subcontractors and field personnel performing geophysical surveys, direct push/drilling investigations, and implementation of environmental remediation.


Your Expertise And Skills


To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology or related field.
  • Experience with GIS is a plus.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to present to supervisors.
  • 7+ years’ experience performing environmental investigations and leading field efforts
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of computer aided software (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, etc.).
  • Work environment will vary greatly depending on nature of assigned tasks.
  • Valid driver’s license, ability to travel and obtain security clearance at federal installations.
  • This position can be physically demanding and will require work in various working environments/conditions which requires that an individual be physically capable of canvassing large project areas by foot on various terrain and potentially in inclement weather.
  • Professional Registration or ability to obtain within one year is preferred
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • The position may involve travel as needed.
