Job Summary:
Debt Purchaser and Collection Agency with multi-state collections team, is looking for a full-time Florida collection attorney with 1-3 years of courtroom experience/motion practice. This position is suitable for working remotely from a home office. The ideal candidate must be adaptable, confident, organized, computer savvy (proficiency in Excel required), and a team-player with a demonstrated ability to problem solve. The candidate must also be able to manage a large docket, be willing to travel to Miami-Dade and surrounding courts and take cases from the initial filing through post judgment effectively and efficiently. Skill in negotiations and interaction with defendants is a must.
Responsibilities:
- Working on special projects/research as needed.
- Work closely with legal support staff to research, draft pleadings, map out and understand the collections process and procedure for Florida.
- Effectively handle motion practice, attend hearings and conduct trials.
- Work with opposing counsel and pro se defendants to resolve disputes and negotiate settlement agreements.
- Primarily engage in the litigation and collection of outstanding debts.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, and adherence to court procedures and processes.
Must Have Qualifications:
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Strong independent work ethic.
- Knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework affecting consumer collections (FDCPA, CFPB and state FDCPA) is a plus.
- Strong computer skills and/or experience with document management systems.
- Must be willing to travel for court appearances in Florida and to Colorado for occasional training.
- Must be able to work remotely with a legal support team and communicate effectively to organize court appearances and pleadings.
- Licensed by the State Bar of Florida.
- Ability to think creatively, problem solve, and work cooperatively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Salary: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
