Position Overview:

The Registered Nurse in the Mental Health setting manages the patient/family experience through utilization of critical thinking, teamwork, effective communication, and nursing judgment/knowledge/skills.

EDUCATION
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

• Bachelor's: BS Preferred
• Other: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

• RN-Registered Nurse of California
• CNPSY-Certified Mental Health and Psych RN Preferred
• BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

• 6 mos-2 years acute mental health psychiatric RN experience preferred

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• EMTALA process.
• Knowledge of and use of SBAR.
• Independently practices and prioritize multiple demands in a ever-changing environment.
• Understanding LPS Conservatorship.
• Voluntary and involuntary commitment.
• Perform COVID and other testing as ordered and trained.
• Ability to perform face to face assessments on different type of presentations.
• Must have demonstrated knowledge of basic nursing skills and effective English written and communication skills.
• Use of interventions with hallucinating patient.
• Isolation procedures and precautions.
• Extensive knowledge of HIPAA.
• Suicidal precautions / Knowledge of patients that are high risk.
• Use of milieu to enhance patient care.
• Use of interventions with delusional patient.
• Use of interventions with acute suicidal patients.
• Use of interventions with self-abusive & CPS/APS Reporting if necessary.
• Knowledge of legal documents pertaining to minors/JV220/Legal Guardian.
• Knowledge of legal responsibility regarding use of restraint and seclusion.
• Knowledge of psychotropic and stimulant medications in the adolescent and adult population.

Pay Range: $59.51 - $79.20 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
