Overview Registered Nurse for Oral Surgery is a specialized nursing role that focuses on providing care to patients undergoing oral surgery procedures. This role requires a high level of knowledge and skill in order to provide safe and effective care to patients. The Registered Nurse for Oral Surgery is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in the perioperative setting. Detailed Job Description The Registered Nurse for Oral Surgery is responsible for providing care to patients undergoing oral surgery procedures. This includes pre-operative assessment, preparation of the patient for surgery, and post-operative care. The Registered Nurse for Oral Surgery is responsible for monitoring the patient’s vital signs, administering medications, and providing emotional support to the patient and their family. The Registered Nurse for Oral Surgery is also responsible for providing education to the patient and their family about the procedure and post-operative care. Job Skills Required• Knowledge of oral surgery procedures and post-operative care
• Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
• Ability to monitor and interpret patient vital signs
• Ability to administer medications and provide emotional support
• Ability to provide patient and family education
• Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols
• Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals
Job Qualifications
• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
• Certification in Oral Surgery Nursing (COSN)
• Current CPR certification
• Two years of experience in an oral surgery setting
Job Knowledge
• Knowledge of oral surgery procedures and post-operative care
• Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols
• Knowledge of medications and their effects
• Knowledge of patient assessment techniques
• Knowledge of patient education techniques
Job Experience
• Two years of experience in an oral surgery setting
• Experience in pre-operative assessment and preparation
• Experience in post-operative care
• Experience in monitoring and interpreting patient vital signs
• Experience in administering medications
• Experience in providing emotional support
