Job Description
We are looking for someone who is located in the Virigina or West Virgina region. This role will be hybrid (in office or in field).
Coordinate activities related to the investigation of theft, vandalism, threats, and related security matters in assigned region. Ensure that security measures and equipment are properly installed in all locations and that security practices are communicated to applicable employees, contractors, and outside law enforcement officials.
Essential Job Functions are listed below:
  • Direct and coordinate investigations with appropriate company personnel, contractors, and local law enforcement officials as appropriate.
  • Act as liaison with Federal, State, and local law enforcement and investigation agencies in the assigned Region on vulnerability assessments, security needs, etc.
  • Recommend appropriate security personnel levels /equipment and that the appropriate security measures are in place in Company facilities.
  • Keep abreast of company, local and national security issues and apply any necessary changes associated with any changing conditions as appropriate.
  • Develop and coordinate all facets of physical security including equipment, procedures and methods pertaining to the protection of personnel and facilities.
  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with internal employees, contractors, and local law enforcement agencies.
  • Coordinate and assist in the development, communication and training on security policies, methods, and procedures as necessary.

Minimum Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree OR associate degree and three years’ experience OR High School and 10 years’ experience.
Experience:
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in one of the following: Sworn Paid Law enforcement employee at the local, state, or federal level; active-duty military; corporate security or related field. (In addition to experience listed above).
Other Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of risk assessments.
  • Guard force management experience.
  • Overnight travel up to 40% of the time may be required.
  • Person must live in AEP’s service territory.
  • Responsible for Physical Security of a large geographic area including urban and rural facilities.
  • Experience in training delivery is preferred. The successful candidate will be required to deliver the training through a learning management system or through face-to-face instruction.
  • Working knowledge of investigative techniques and criminal procedure.
  • Former or Active Full time paid Sworn Law Enforcement employee at the local, state, or federal level highly preferred.
