Job Description
Job Summary


This position provides front office support to the Police Department. This position has frequent contact with the public and will greet and assist in a courteous and professional manner. May have to process and review reports to assure IBR validation sets are compliant with local, state, and federal government. Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties.


Essential Job Functions


  • Assists in providing information to departments by telephone or in person.
  • Greets the public and directs them to appropriate offices.
  • Assists in special projects throughout the department related to the duties of the employee.
  • Employee may be required to work beyond normal business hours at night and/or on weekends.
  • Answer the telephone and forward calls, take messages, or provide information.
  • Maintain regular and prompt attendance, physically present to work.
  • Performs other similar or related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications & Requirements


  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Must successfully complete Emergency Management and Incident Command Training within first three months of hire date.
  • Must have High School diploma; or equivalent (GED).
  • Applicant must pass pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen at City's expense.
  • Valid Class "C" Texas Driver License and be insurable.
  • Up to one (1) to three (3) years of related work experience to perform such job.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • Perform multiple tasks and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to interact effectively and appropriately with the public and other personnel.
  • Knowledge of telephone etiquette.
  • Some knowledge of city government would be helpful.


Working Conditions/Physical Demands


  • Works in a well-lighted office setting with heating and cooling air conditioning.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasional walking, standing, and stooping.
  • Little or no physical demands required to perform the work.
  • Occasional lifting, moving, or positioning objects up to 30lbs.
