We are seeking a Quality & Safety Manager – Corrugated Packaging Plant, to join our team committed to creating and delivering the best-corrugated solutions for our customers.


Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced results-driven Quality and Safety Manager for our corrugated carton plant in West Chicago, IL.


The Quality and Safety Manager is a pivotal role in overseeing quality control and safety processes within our organization. The Quality and Safety Manager will ensure that products and services meet established standards and customer expectations by developing and implementing procedures, monitoring quality through inspections and data analysis, and identifying areas for improvement.


On the safety front, the Quality and Safety manager will implement and oversee safety programs, policies, and procedures to safeguard the well-being of employees and assets. This includes conducting risk assessments, and inspections, and developing safety protocols while adhering to OSHA regulations. The Quality and Safety Manager is responsible for providing training, investigating incidents, and recommending corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.


Responsibilities

  • Work closely with production managers and operators to maximize product quality while minimizing costs, downtime, and waste.
  • Conduct quality and safety training sessions as part of a new-hire safety orientation program.
  • Coordinate and manage investigations of identified risks, failures, complaints, and corrective/ preventative actions.
  • Investigate workplace incidents and monitor medical care.
  • Assist in customer onboarding with quality activities.
  • Implement facility improvement initiatives based on analysis and assessment of performance data. Provide tools and training for quality management and safety to facility staff.
  • Implement and enforce facility and company standard operating procedures to ensure consistency, compliance, and efficiency in daily operations.
  • Drive continuous advancement in cost containment, quality, and service through strategic initiatives, process improvements, and effective implementation of best practices.
  • Coordinate and execute annual internal GMP audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, identify areas for improvement, and drive adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards.
  • Investigate product defects on both in-process and finished products and ensure customer follow up and satisfaction are handled promptly.


Education & Experience

  • Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing or similar certification is a plus.
  • Amtech (Imaginera/Encore) knowledge (preferred)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Ability to work independently and as a team in a professional manner.
  • 1-3 years of experience in quality and safety management (corrugated industry preferred)
  • Understanding of box converting and quality processes.
  • Understanding of OSHA and safety guidelines and requirements (required)
  • College degree or equivalent experience (required)
