A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!
- Recognize dangerous conditions and working in a safe manner that is in compliance with the Edison Accident Prevention Manual.
- Frequently drive within Edison’s service territory.
- Demonstrate consistent alignment to Edison safety protocols
- Perform on-site inspections of new residential tract and developer substructure installations.
- Measure and recording the location of Edison facilities, accounting for deviations, creating as-built drawings and communicating status of construction and inspection activities as required.
- Engage in continuous learning and stay up to date with relevant technology and innovations.
- Perform other underground inspection duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Use database systems to access and input information.
- Work with confidential and/or sensitive information.
- Verify compliance with Edison standards, applicable construction requirements, industry standards and local governing agency standards.
The essentials
- Two or more years of experience reading and understanding work order drawings, surveys and utility substructure maps.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- Three or more years of overall experience performing any of the following: surveillance and inspections, civil construction, civil engineering, or civil drafting.
- Two or more years of experience with utility underground construction practices, specifications and requirements, including the Underground Structures (UGS) Manual, GO128 and related industry standards. The UGS Manual is available to the general public and can be downloaded from our website.
The preferred
- Three or more years of experience integrating work across relevant areas, managing risks appropriately, developing and implementing business plans, and providing exceptional service to internal and external customers.
- Two or more years of basic computer skills including experience with Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Internet Explorer, Word, and Excel.
- Proficient with Auto Cad and Autodesk Design Review.
- Two or more years of experience with resource and project planning, tracking and decision-making.
- Two or more years of experience giving functional direction to contractor and support personnel.
You should know
- This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

Testing
- This position requires testing and applicants who are identified to continue through the selection process will be invited to test via email. Reference our Information Guides for the following test(s): Edison Individual Contributor Workstyles (Test 8203). Candidates who have previously passed this assessment, in some cases, may not need to retest again for this position.
