The internationally recognized University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) is a 10-megawatt A life-saving operation in the middle of America — the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) — needs you to help guide its future. MURR’s reactor is the highest-power university research reactor in the United States, operating at 10 megawatts, 6.5 days a week and 52 weeks a year. The MURR facility enables research across many disciplines – From investigating ancient cultures and how plants respond to their environment, to analyzing industrial materials and developing radiopharmaceuticals that have lifesaving clinical applications. At the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) we are currently recruiting an exceptional individual with a passion for science and desire to seek excellence in a dynamic, stimulating environment. As a Quality Control Chemist II, you will perform GMP analytical testing on radiopharmaceuticals manufactured at MURR to release product for human use. A successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail, comprehensive and creative problem-solving skills, and leadership skills/potential. This position will take part in the testing and release of GMP radiochemical products which will be used in pharmaceutical formulations for human patients. Candidates should be committed to excellence and quality and believe in the University Mission of being a world-class research institution. This position is part of an approved Career Progression Plan within the Quality Control Department. Responsibilities include, not limited to:


Key Duties Performed by This Position Will Include

  • Detail oriented individual committed to high quality work and documentation.
  • Employ sound technical writing skills involving deviation reports, laboratory investigation reports, etc.
  • Reviews and revises testing and equipment procedures as needed. Performs equipment and procedure qualifications periodically.
  • Perform or assist with other Quality Unit assigned activities related to MURR facility responsibilities associated with FDA, NRC, and DOT regulations.
  • Assists peers with method development and validation activities.
  • Able to independently perform testing on multiple radiopharmaceutical batches manufactured on a weekly basis.
  • Identifies continuous improvement initiative ideas/projects.
  • Contribute to the proper maintenance and organization of the laboratory, laboratory equipment, supplies, records, and samples.
  • All other duties as assigned.

$54,995.20/year

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
