Job Description
Who We Are
Escalent is an award-winning data analytics and advisory firm that helps clients understand human and market behaviors to navigate disruption. As catalysts of progress for more than 40 years, our strategies guide the world’s leading brands. We accelerate growth by creating a seamless flow between primary, secondary, syndicated, and internal business data, providing consulting and advisory services from insights through implementation. Based on a profound understanding of what drives human beings and markets, we identify actions that build brands, enhance customer experiences, inspire product innovation and boost business productivity. We listen, learn, question, discover, innovate, and deliver—for each other and our clients—to make the world work better for people.
Why Escalent? Once you join our team you will have the opportunity to...
  • Build lasting relationships with fun colleagues in a culture that values each person.
  • Gain exposure to a rich variety of research techniques from knowledgeable professionals.
  • Obtain insights into the needs and challenges of your clients—to learn how the world’s leading brands use research.
  • Access experts across industries for maximum learning opportunities including Weekly Knowledge Sharing Sessions, LinkedIn Learning, and more.
  • Enjoy a remote first/hybrid work environment with a flexible schedule.
  • Experience peace of mind working for a company with a commitment to conducting research ethically.
Role Overview
Our Life Science practice excels at evaluating new pharmaceutical and biotech products; analyzing the best opportunities for penetrating marketplaces; and helping health systems understand how their customers are responding to healthcare reform. We leverage quantitative and qualitative research solutions to address a variety of healthcare market research needs. Recently, the demand for qualitative solutions among Life Sciences clients has been steadily increasing.
Who are you?
  • You are eager to share relevant knowledge from your training with your colleagues, who may have deeper business experience but less medical experience than you
  • You enjoy synthesizing findings, creating storytelling reports in PowerPoint and presenting results.
  • You’re trained in nursing or public health and are looking to apply your training to help research patient and HCP needs and attitudes
  • You are excited to deepen your experience in market research, learn additional techniques from experts, and make a career in the insights industry
  • Through your training, you have experience with market research and know that you enjoy it
  • You have a client-service mindset, with an eye for detail and an eagerness to please
  • You are curious, staying current with emerging business trends in the Life Sciences sector and following develops in various therapeutic areas.
  • You bring a growth mindset with eagerness to tackle new challenges.
  • You are comfortable with discomfort, knowing that we work on projects ranging between 6 weeks and 6 months, often in vastly different therapeutic areas. You are not intimidated by the challenge of learning about new therapeutic areas on each project and crave the intellectual stimulation this learning rewards.
What would you do?
A Qualitative Research Consultant works with a Client Manager (sales/client relationship owner) and a Project Manager (logistics) to support qualitative projects within the Life Sciences team. They are in charge of all phases of qualitative research projects from design to execution, to reporting and final delivery of insights. A majority of our qualitative engagements focus on disease state understanding, segmentation and persona development, patient and Healthcare Professional (HCP) journey, treatment pathways, core HCP messaging and patient positioning. You would report into our Life Sciences Qualitative Research Lead, an experienced qualitative market researcher. You would receive on the job training from the Lead, other members of the Life Sciences Qualitative team, and Escalent’s Qualitative Center of Excellence. Experience and skill in oncology or diabetes / metabolic disorders is a plus, but not required.
A few other key points…
  • We all deeply enjoy the incredible colleagues that we get to work with on a daily basis. That’s paramount for every one of us, so we focus very strongly on hiring people that will fit in well with our culture. While we are looking for somebody with a strong individual skills and experience, your ability to collaborate is going to be a big deciding factor.
  • We are a geographically dispersed organization with technical proficiency, so we are very flexible regarding your location, and comfortable with you working remotely. You must be able and willing to travel as needed (domestically, and on rare occasions, internationally) for research fieldwork and client meetings. Estimated travel is ~30%.
Responsibilities
  • Independently learn new therapeutic areas and confidently converse in patient and HCP vernacular
  • Contribute to thought leadership, point-of-view pieces and our award-winning blog (escalent.co/thinking/blog)
  • Deepen client relationships by effectively managing their expectations, communicating project updates and guiding decision-making
  • Lead and collaborate with other Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) during the research design process, including project specifications, pricing, creation of screener and discussion guides, research methodology, and analysis planning
  • Organize and oversee fast-moving global projects with lots of moving parts
  • Author and deliver compelling storytelling narratives, interactive workshops, video documentaries and more to embed insight and guidance into clients’ hearts and minds
  • Partner with moderators in insight development during and after fielding
Qualifications
  • Must be a quick study and creative problem solver
  • Passionate about understanding people, culture, markets and uncovering how things really work
  • Willing to work flexible hours and periodic overtime to accommodate project requirements
  • Experience conducting multi-country qualitative studies is preferred, but not required
  • Excellent written, visual and oral communications
  • Must have a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Master of Public Health (MPH), or similar degree.
  • Able to multi-task and manage several projects and clients simultaneously
  • As part of your degree program, you must have received market research training
  • Willing to travel for fieldwork and client meetings
NOTE: This position will at times require heavy travel or extreme flexibility to work outside of typical business hours
Compensation, Benefits And Culture
