POSITION SUMMARY

The QC Laboratory Supervisor position works with QC management and assures the completion of daily laboratory functions by providing direction for QC Laboratory Technicians and QC Analysts. The QC Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that daily laboratory testing of raw materials, in process and finished products are completed as required. In addition, this position is responsible for providing support for environmental testing, validation, stability and other various laboratory and production testing as needed. The QC Laboratory Supervisor interacts closely with other departments such as supply chain, manufacturing, quality assurance, and R&D to ensure QC Laboratory functions are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

• Assist in writing and revising SOPs and WIs to ensure cGMP compliance
• Manage day to day shift prioritization of routine, in-process, stability and finished product work
• Leads and supports mentoring relationship for QC Laboratory Technicians, QC Analyst I and QC Analyst II
• Employ sound and compliant laboratory techniques and logic per industry standards (e.g., FDA, USP/NF, ISO, ANSI) and internal and customer requirements
• Work with management to maintain working schedule of all work flowing through the QC Analytical Lab
• Review batch records to ensure they are compliant with SOPs, WIs, and cGMPs
• Lead training of all new employees and maintain all training documentation via current system
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment (5S) for all QC areas
• Provide help with troubleshooting of analytical instrumentation and basic maintenance (GC, HPLC, FTIR, etc.)
• Any additional functions as assigned by the Laboratory Manager
• Directs implementation of the OOS system Laboratory Investigations, and assist in any related CAPAs, deviations, etc.
• Support on-time performance in the QC lab against the Production and laboratory schedules
• Facilitate QC audit readiness with understanding of FDA and ISO regulations and requirements
• Follow all SOPs and Safety Guidelines to ensure compliance with a cGMP environment and Safety Practices

EDUCATION

• B.S. in Chemistry or related scientific field 4+ years related experience or M.S. in Chemistry or related scientific field 2+ years related experience
• At least 2 years of previous experience managing individuals in a laboratory environment

EXPERIENCE

• Experience working in an ISO or FDA regulated environment
• Strong team orientation including the ability to mentor and coach individuals
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak clearly, listen and gain clarification, respond well to questions, and write clearly and informatively
• Demonstrate interpersonal skills to work effectively with subordinates, peers, managers and cross functional teams
• Expert knowledge of analytical instrumentation
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detain and deadlines. Must have the ability to set and manage priorities for the team as well as schedule activities accordingly

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Computer Skills

• Expert knowledge of Empower chromatography platform
• Understanding of LIMS
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Ventilated, well-lighted laboratory with work benches, vented hoods, tile or epoxy flooring. Controlled temperature.
