The Public Relations Specialist is a self-motivated public relations professional focused on developing relationships with consumer, corporate, business and financial media on behalf of the brand. This position will develops relationships and works closely with the marketing and product development teams to help generate integrated proactive media engagement strategies highlighting key news around YETI and its products. The Public Relations Specialist has a strong understanding of media relations, as well as an entrepreneurial and goal-oriented approach. They should be a creative and strategic thinker, considering all facets of media engagement to ensure positive press coverage. This position will report to the Sr. Manager, Public Relations and will be based out of headquarters in Austin, TX.

Responsibilities:

• Support program and campaign launches, focusing on how to best generate press opportunities, determining specific needs to be successful and developing creative pitch angles to drive press coverage
• Develop PR assets, including messaging document/talking points, pitches, press releases, fact sheets, media alerts, media lists, interview briefing documents, coverage and campaign recaps
• Development of the seasonal pitch calendar, in addition to taking the lead on execution of all outreach, including print, broadcast and online outlets across lifestyle/consumer, targeted trade, corporate/business/financial outlets
• Successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges, including media inquiries around issues and potential crises
• Leverage key events to generate consumer and media awareness around YETI and its communities
• Manage reactive media inquiries
• Securing product seeding opportunities with non-traditional media, creators and influencers
• Manage measurement and monitoring tools on behalf of the PR team; keep team trackers and seeding documents up to date
• Support the development of strategic PR plans covering brand, retail, consumer campaigns and product placement, with the goal of generating positive media coverage for YETI
• Assist in planning and executing press trips, experiences and excursions
• Build excellent relationships with key media and influencers on behalf of the brand
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure program and campaign success

Qualifications and Attributes:

• Team player who is willing to roll up their sleeves and contribute to team and business initiatives
• Possess creative thinking and can secure media interest and coverage using unique angles and opportunities within and outside the established marketing calendar
• Proactive and takes responsibility for projects with tight timelines and deadlines to completion
• Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Experience utilizing media databases (Muck Rack, Cision, etc.)
• Ability to multitask and is organized, with the ability to juggle multiple workstreams while supporting administrative needs
• Strategic mindset; can connect PR initiatives back to business objectives
• Adaptable and ability to pivot to business needs
• Ability to identify and addresses roadblocks, while working across all levels of stakeholders
• At least 0 – 2 years of experience in public relations experience

US Workplace Approach:

• Onsite: Role requires you to be onsite full-time.
• Hybrid: Role requires you to be located in Austin, Texas and is a mixture of onsite and remote.
• Remote: Role is full-time remote.
