Public Relations & Communications Assistant

Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is a 365-entertainment destination for world-class events located in Austin, TX. The sports and entertainment portfolio at COTA is unmatched in the country with Formula 1 US Grand Prix, NASCAR and MotoGP attracting global fans during championship races on the famed Circuit and Live Nation producing over 30 headline concerts every year at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater.

COTA is seeking a part-time, entry-level PR & Communications Assistant to support the department during Major Events with administrative duties, content development, and partner services (e.g. press escort).
It is encouraged applicants hold a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or a related field, and have some guest services experience. Applicants should be confident in their relationship building skills and creative content development, and should thrive in a fast-paced, constantly-evolving atmosphere.
Responsibilities

• Media: Assist with outreach and pitching to media, escorting media while on-site, monitoring traditional and social media coverage during Major Events
• Content: Assist with content development including press releases, media alerts, and event recap blogs
• Influencers/Content Creators: Assist with research for appropriate influencers/content creators for each event, outreach to influencers and creators, escorting influencers and creators on-site
• Events: Assist with other duties as necessary for on-site events
• Reporting: Assist with compiling reports that tell the story of our brand's reputation in the public eye from both social media and traditional media outlets
• Provide efficient and exemplary assistance to the Public Relations & Communications team

Candidate Background And Abilities

• Ability to problem solve with short notice and find resources for your solution when limited support is available
• In-depth understanding of how to provide an exceptional guest experience
• Strong writing skills: Attention to detail and brand voice
• Understanding of public relations industry/principles
• Highly professional demeanor, able to work successfully with a wide variety of constituents including sponsors, vendors, media, volunteers and professional consultants
• Bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing, communications, journalism or related field
• Confident in "people" skills and have an interest in becoming a publicist (or similar career)

Notes

• This role will operate in a seasonal, part-time manner. The Public Relations & Communications Assistant may work full-time hours for Major Events such as MotoGP Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas, Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix, and concerts at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater. Pending availability and interest, the assistant may also help with smaller events like Peppermint Parkway.
