POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an ambitious, curious, and passionate Associate Scientist to join Aethon’s dynamic research team with expertise in molecular biology, immunology, and in vitro T-cell-based assays. As a successful candidate, you will work closely with our other Scientists and Associates to help drive R&D efforts by designing and executing experiments with efficiency, developing groundbreaking research tools and assays, and delivering high-quality data in a timely manner. This is an exciting opportunity to work with, and learn from, multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving biotechnology company.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Proficient with standard molecular and biochemical laboratory techniques such as western blotting, qPCR, ELISAs, protein assays (BCA), and multi-parameter cytometry, with a strong ability to implement and troubleshoot these techniques independently.
- Self-motivation and adaptability to evolving project priorities and responsibilities.
- Team-oriented, with a strong work ethic.
- B.S. or M.S. in biochemistry, biology, bioengineering, immunology, or related field with 4+ (B.Sc.) or 3+ (M.S.) years of industry experience in a biotechnology/pharmaceutical company
- Experience with human T-cell culture techniques such as isolation and expansion and standard immune cell assays (cytotoxicity, flow cytometry/FACs analyses).
- Meticulous record keeping using ELN systems.
- Knowledge of standard statistical analyses and data plotting (e.g. Excel, GraphPad Prism).
- Passion for working at the bench to advance programs and solve technical challenges.
- Expertise with standard mammalian cell culture techniques (thawing, culturing, freezing cell lines) and viral/non-viral transfection/transduction/transposition.
- Experience or familiarity with protein production/purification and/or mass spectrometry is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively share scientific findings.
