Position Overview


We are looking for an experienced Project Expeditor with Hexagon Smart Materials experience. The Project Expeditor’s primary responsibility is to perform desk expediting tasks in order to ensure purchased materials and engineered equipment meet project need-by dates and schedules per the Contract. In the Houston district office, the Expeditor supports Kiewit and projects by expediting supplier’s deliverables and will actively monitor the status of the orders and report any delays early to project management to initiate mitigating actions. This also includes document expediting.

Location


This position will be in Houston, TX at our district office.


Responsibilities


  • To act as the project’s representative at the suppliers' shop for expediting purposes
  • Coordinate timely responds of inhouse engineering
  • Participate in kick-off and progress meetings
  • Coordinate with the responsible engineering, buyers, inspectors, logistics and material control
  • Proactive surveillance of supplier progress
  • Represents Expediting in project meetings
  • To monitor supplier progress to ensure materials and equipment purchased is delivered on time
  • Read and understand fabrication schedules
  • To monitor the performance of the supplier’s sub-suppliers and advise on the need to assist the supplier to expedite primary sub-supplier or those providing components
  • Communicate and coordinate closely with the Project to ensure the most cost-effective use of time
  • To take the appropriate action with the supplier in the event of delays
  • Keeps expected dates up-to-date in the expediting system
  • Contacts supplier frequently to obtain timely submission of engineering data
  • To produce accurate records on physical progress at suppliers' shop


Qualifications
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel) and be willing to learn Kiewit processes and systems.
  • It is a benefit to have experience in DevonWay and/or InEight systems.
  • Must be proficient in Hexagon Smart Materials (Required)
  • COMPUTER SKILLS
  • Supplier Expediting experience is required.
  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • A four-year degree in engineering or science from Technical College or University is preferred OR an Associate degree in engineering technology or science OR 10+ years of experience performing supplier expediting work.
  • Preferred candidate will have a broad construction working knowledge, experience shop expediting plant equipment (static and rotating) and construction materials (pipe, fabricated pipe, structural steel, electrical equipment and supplies, pumps) etc. associated with Energy, Industrial, and Infrastructure projects.
