Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opportunity for a Project Engineer located at our facility in Pasadena, TX.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Ensure all projects meet the operability needs of the customer
  • Ensure all projects receive adequate hazard and safety reviews and that all recommendations are completed in a timely manner
  • Understand quality standards as outlined by Air Products and Chemicals, Inc
  • Ensure inherent process safety is adhered to on all project designs
  • Maintain projects on budget and schedule
  • Develop estimates, funding request documents, schedule, and ongoing forecasts for plant executed projects
  • Manage Project Safety
  • Lead assigned capital projects (standalone projects and projects within plant outages) and manage all engineering, design, and construction resources in West Gulf Coast Region
  • Provide field supervision / support during project execution
  • Gain a basic understanding of the operating plant environment, process and equipment

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in Safety Sampling and Critical Safety Audits during outages
  • Report all incidents immediately
  • Attend and contribute to monthly Team Safety Meetings
  • Lead daily morning safety / toolbox meetings with all crafts
  • Ensure all contractors on site for project execution have submitted an Emergency Action Plan prior to mobilization
  • Complete short-term contractor safety audit forms daily during execution of project
  • Clearly communicate safety goals – 0 Recordables, 0 First Aids
  • Complete JSA reviews and fill out JSA Review form daily during execution of project
  • Conduct Safety Kickoff Meeting with contractors and operations teams prior to start of project execution
  • Participate in the Safe Work Permit issuance process with the operations team
  • Confirm contractor is aware of and follows all Air Products Safety and Engineering Standards Air Products Internal Use Only
PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
  • Ability to work without close supervision
  • Utilizes positive and constructive attitude toward resolution of problems and conflicts
  • Willing to work a wide variety of scheduled days and hours, following strict fatigue management guidelines
  • Makes good use of time, completing assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Works professionally and harmoniously with co-workers, supervisors, management, support personnel, program participants, and business area persons
  • Accepts direction, constructive feedback, and supervision
  • Demonstrates ability to remain calm in demanding situations
  • Ability to demonstrate and perform efficiently and reliably all categories of this document
  • Ability to work within and promote a teamwork philosophy
REQUIRED ABILITIES AND CONDUCT:
  • High ethical standards - unwilling to compromise on worker safety and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Pass Criminal background investigation. Individuals will be subject to pre-employment, reasonable cause periodic, random, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.
  • Maintains confidentiality of written and verbal information pertaining to Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., its staff, management and participating onsite affiliates
  • Demonstrates positive, supportive, and cooperative behavior in interacting with co-workers, supervisors and management
  • Prioritize “Zero is achievable” safety policy in words and actions to protect self, others and the environment
  • Able to achieve various State mandated certifications (TWIC, OSHA, etc.) and other requirements as may be deemed necessary

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High ethical standards - unwilling to compromise on worker safety and regulatory compliance requirements
  • 3-10 years’ experience in a related field
  • Technical degree (Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred)
  • Ability to travel 25-40% of the time depending on assigned workload – WGC region includes all Air Products operating facilities in TX, OK, KS
  • Organizational credibility - able to influence business area, engineering and manufacturing managers in decision making process
  • Strong organizational and planning skills Strong leadership abilities
  • Manufacturing plant operations, maintenance, or capital projects experience
  • Self-motivated and willingness to learn
