Job Description

Description

Project Assistant Local Leaderships Lab (LLL)

About CIVICUS

CIVICUS exists to defend people power. As a growing global alliance of over 15,000 members in 188 countries, we work together to monitor violations of basic civic freedoms, call out the perpetrators of violations and strengthen the power of people to organise by supporting a more accountable, effective and innovative civil society. We strive to promote excluded voices, especially from the Global South.

About the Role

The post-holder will support the implementation of the Local Leaderships Lab (LLL) initiative under the supervision of the LLL Program Coordinator.

The role will provide administrative, operational, technical, and content support for the envisaged activities and processes, including support to liaising with and accompaniment to local partners and other stakeholders, as well as collating and summarising data, learnings, and updates.

CIVICUS follows a horizontal and cross-cluster operational model. The post-holder will therefore work with and be supported by various clusters and teams.

The LLL initiative aims at ensuring that the civil society support ecosystem is informed by the needs and priorities of diverse local civil society actors. In coordination with NEAR Network (based on a joint Theory of Change), through this initiative CIVIC,US will enable solidarity and political support for local leadership that recognizes the agency of traditionally excluded civil society actors.

  • Degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in “remote work” settings across time-zones.
  • Affinity with CIVICUS values, principles, and ways of working.
  • Ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent IT skills, including experience with MS Office, and common online collaborative platforms such as, SharePoint, Google docs, Miro and/or Mural.
  • Demonstrable experience (at least 1 year) supporting project implementation, particularly in providing logistic and technical support to meetings, events, teams, and/or supporting grants administration and reporting.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Familiar with civil society, development, human rights issues and/or civic space trends.
  • At home’ working with an international team and in a multi-cultural and diverse environment.
