Job Description
  • Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): * Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher).Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Experience with programming in MATLAB. Experience handling HIPAA-protected human subjects research data. Coursework in applied math, computer science, statistics, image/signal processing or related fields. Experience with FSL, SPM, Freesurfer, fMRIprep, or HCP pipelines. Proficient with two (2) or more programming languages other than MATLAB. Authorship on scientific publications or conference presentations (e.g., posters or manuscripts)Brief Description of Duties: *The successful candidate will be responsible for the analysis of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and other clinical research neuroimaging data (structural MR, magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and so on), as well as the development and maintenance of a Matlab Object-Oriented pipeline designed to analyze such data. Other important duties will involve management of large datasets (>40 TB and growing) and basic maintenance of hosted Linux systems. The overall goal of this work, and of the lab, is to understand the neural and molecular mechanisms of psychotic illnesses and substance use disorders. We are an imaging lab, dedicated to understanding mental illness using multiple approaches. The candidate will be working with multiple imaging pipelines, implemented in Matlab, command-line Linux distributions, and bash. The candidate must be self-motivated and work well in a team environment.* Execution and implementation of image processing algorithms within multiple processing pipelines* Troubleshooting implemented algorithms and user issues related to image processing pipelines* E-Management of large datasets (monitoring disk utilization, rsync, cleaning up extraneous data)* Testing and developing new algorithms for potential implementation* Downloading, archiving, and prepping newly acquired imaging data for processing, which includes liaising with imaging center personnel and research support specialists* Training new lab employees* Contributing to statistical analyses, tables, and figures for manuscripts and presentations* Quality control of MRI, and other imaging data* Other duties as assigned.Special Notes:* The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation.
