Hourly Rate: $31.43 Subject to increase upon settlement of CBA

Responsibilities

The programmer analyst will maintain and extend functionality of our Test Scoring and Data Warehouse applications using C#, SQL, and other web programming languages.

The programmer analyst in Technology Services has expert knowledge and understanding of assigned applications and computing environments, and an expanding knowledge of other applications and environments. He/she has a high degree of logical reasoning, diplomacy, accuracy and sound judgment, and is able to work independently. Under the leadership of the systems analyst, this employee assists in developing efficient, logical applications. He/she analyzes and resolves existing and potential problems. This position requires equal emphasis on programming and analysis. Although the programmer analyst does not act as a supervisor of other employees, he/she may guide, encourage, direct and monitor other team members.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Civil Service Qualifications

:

Qualifications

Must hold permanent status as a Programmer Analyst or be reachable on current Programmer Analyst Civil Service list; or meet minimum qualifications for a provisional appointment as follows

• An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
• Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four (4) year college or university with a Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of data processing experience in programming and systems development; or:
• Completion of a minimum of 60 semester credit hours from a New York State registered college or university with a major in Data Processing or Computer Science or related field and three (3) years of data processing experience, at least two years of which were in programming and systems development; or:

• Strong experience in designing and working with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.).
• Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
• Problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a commitment to producing clean and efficient code.
• Solid understanding of database optimization techniques and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in C# programming language and MVC framework.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile development methodologies.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively.
