Job Description

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that is dedicated to closing the achievement and opportunity gaps in education by partnering with schools all over the country to prepare students for college, careers, and life. This is accomplished by providing professional development to educators to support their efforts in the classroom, ultimately empowering students with strategies and skills that improve how they learn, work together and advocate for themselves. With AVID’s continued mission to expand its reach across the country, our Region Program Managers, who act as our primary liaisons between AVID Center and the school districts they support, are making it happen!

$82,000 - $98,900 per year, Depending on Experience and Location

**Candidates living in some areas of the New York metropolitan area may be eligible for an adjusted salary range, up to $115,000 per year, to account for higher costs of living.


AVID Center is currently looking for a motivated and knowledgeable educational leader to join our team in the role of Program Manager. This influential position offers the ability to make a huge impact on students, families, and communities in the region. Program Managers work directly with schools and district personnel, at all levels of leadership, to implement, manage, and grow the AVID College Readiness System.

What we are looking for in a Program Manager:
  • In-classroom experience and/or administrative/leadership (school or district) experience
  • Experience with frequently using data to inform their work and comfort with pulling information from multiple state and national sources
  • The ability to listen to individual needs and successfully align them with products, services, and strategies for improvement
  • A motivating trainer, leader, and mentor, with exceptional relational capacity
  • Experience with the AVID College Readiness System as well as a passion for the AVID mission
  • Must be located in the designated areas within Eastern Region or must be willing to relocate for the position
  • Comfortable working remotely and able to prioritize responsibilities to fit the needs of both internal and external partnerships
  • Excellent organization, time-management, and problem-solving skills
  • 50 percent travel required, within the region
  • Excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • The ability and motivation for frequent travel and working remotely

Experience and Education*:
Required:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience and knowledge of college, and career, readiness systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
  • Experience working with diverse student community populations

Preferred:

  • Experience in serving non-profit organizations or educational institutions, which prepare students for success in high school, college, and career, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education
  • Professional AVID Experience (AVID elective teacher, site coordinator, District Director, staff developer, etc.)
  • Administrative, leadership or management experience in an education setting
  • Master’s degree or higher in education or related field
  • Allowable Substitutions: Any combination of experience, training or credential certification endorsement that provides the incumbent/applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work, as determined by the AVID Center. Qualifying work experience, as identified by the Senior Director, Human Resources may substitute for the education requirement.
