Job Description

The Program Director will be responsible for managing the overall program operations according to DYCD and HSVS guidelines. The Program Director will guarantee all participants are participating in engaging and safe educational and recreational activities during program hours. The Program Director will ensure that the program is complying with DYCD contractual obligations, and is the primary liaison to the funding sources and HSVS executive management, and other stakeholders.


Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of Position:

  • Community outreach, and collaboration with stakeholders such as Resident Association, NCO’s, elected officials, other Cornerstones and CBO programs.
  • Assuring quality of services and safety of all program participants.
  • Staff hiring and development using Paycom and completion of all Paycom related task such as completion of PAF’s, performance management and etc.
  • Staff supervision, and annual evaluation of all program staff using Paycom.
  • Available on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Remains sensitive and responsive to cultural differences of program participants and staff.
  • Uses positive approaches when handling difficult situations. Avoids gossip and negative discussions. Remains flexible and adapts to change.
  • Serves as role model for program participants. Abides dress code. Always conducts self in a professional manner.
  • Budget oversight, including development, submission, and monitoring program budgets in collaboration with executive management and HeartShare’s fiscal department.
  • Represents the organization both within and outside of the work environment in a manner that promotes the mission, vision, and values of the agency. Personally, adheres to organizational mission, vision, and values, in addition to all other agency policies and procedures.
  • Provision of direct services to program participants as required.
  • Attendance and participation at DYCD meetings, workshops, and required trainings.
  • Participates in in-service trainings and on-site workshops as required for professional growth and development. Attends external trainings and workshops at direction of management.
  • Organization and implementation of program operations and contractual obligations including preparation and submission of monthly deliverables, incident reports, workscopes, budgets, and planning of events and programming.
  • Experience and\or knowledge of NYCHA, DYCD, DOH, DOE, or childcare policy and procedures.
  • Computer savvy, with knowledge of using Microsoft Office programs.
  • Maintaining all required NYC licensure for program operations.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in working with diverse communities, and knowledge of multicultural issues including race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender expression, etc.
  • HSVS requires all new hires to provide proof of vaccination prior to their start date. Employees who require an accommodation for medical or religious reasons should notify Human Resources.
  • CPR and RTE certification preferred.
  • Bachelors Degree in Human Services, Education, or other equivalent field with at least two years of experience working with children or in youth development.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor's degree from four year college or equivalent
