The Department of Educational Psychology (EPSY) in the School of Education and Human Development is home to a variety of interrelated disciplines and degree options focused on human development and well-being in educational and community contexts. Our undergraduate programs prepare students to work with children and youth in a variety of community and school contexts. We also offer a range of professional master’s degrees geared towards professionals in schools, communities, and the corporate world. For those interested in doctoral studies we offer Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Educational Psychology, Counseling Psychology, and School Psychology.

What you need to know
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Ten years of related experience in educational program management, including related supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated passion for the program’s mission, with experience leading in a variety of settings serving young adults with intellectual disabilities.
  • Exemplary ability to build relationships with campus and community partners.
  • Demonstrated project management ability with excellent interpersonal and electronic communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Licensed teacher in state of Texas.
  • Three to five years’ work experience with youth and/or young adults with intellectual disabilities.
  • Ph.D. in Special Education, Social Work, Rehabilitative Counseling, or related field.
  • Master’s Degree in Special Education, Social Work, Rehabilitative Counseling, or related field.
  • Ten years’ experience in relevant leadership position.
  • Prior teaching experience and teaching credentials.
Essential Duties/Tasks:
  • Program Development and Outreach - Develops and supervises all aspects of the development and implementation of the curriculum including annual goals, strategic plans, and quality of the program. Collaborates with faculty, staff, offices, departments, university administration, and organizations across campus to promote the inclusion, success, allowing avenues of integration for Aggie ACHIEVE students in all areas of campus life. Develop policies and procedures for the peer mentor program. Identifies and secures program funding and expansion resources. Develops, oversees, and approves the program budget. Extends the benefits of the inclusive experience for all members of the campus community (including but not limited to academic advising, financial aid, residence life, student life, orientation, career center, counseling, student organizations, job employment support, etc.). Recruits prospective students for the program and oversees the participant admissions process to include application, interview, and orientation procedures. Trains professors, staff, and volunteer mentors on strategies effective for working with and teaching students with intellectual disabilities (ID) and developmental disabilities (DD). Coordinates and supervises a robust peer mentor program to ensure supports are inclusive. Markets the program to students, educators, and appropriate agencies that serve adults with ID and DD. Promotes the program to possible participants and their families across the state. Creates and sustains positive and productive relationships with program participants, families, and Texas A&M affiliates. Travels to regional and national conferences annually to present on current practices. Keeps current on best practices and research for students with ID and DD.
  • Student Support & Evaluation - Monitors progress of student performance for program evaluation and annual report. Develops methods to track students and follows post-graduation as they re-enter their community. Establishes a method to evaluate program design. Recruits, hires, and manages full-time employees and graduate assistants. Other duties as assigned.
