Position: Production Services Technician

Location: Global, Located within one of our 8 locations

Facility: Crafty Apes

Crafty Apes is a high-end visual effects house with a strong foothold in features and episodic television . This position is a temporary 3-4 month contract to start, with the potential of converting to full-time staff after the 90 to 120 day trial period has been served. Pay ranges are $15.38/hr USD to $31.25 USD per hour, depending upon location. We will consider applicants currently located anywhere within one of our 8 locations: California, Georgia, New York, Louisiana, New Mexico, Vancouver, Montreal, or the UK.

The Production Services department provides all productions with operational support related to production data health and orchestration, batch rendering, uploads/downloads to and from client, and generally any other front-line technology or logistical support that requires a deep understanding of Crafty’s global pipeline and workflows.

Production Services Technicians collaborate with Producers, Artists, Supervisors, Editorial, Pipeline, and IT to ensure that productions move smoothly through the facility.

Because this position has various interactions to all of the different departments during the course of a production, the Production Services Technician is often seen as a growth path into the rest of the studios. Since members of this team are knowledgeable with the processes of the pipeline, they are prime candidates to move into other departments as well.

The perfect candidate needs to be a dependable team player with a great attitude, able to quickly complete assigned tasks, and have troubleshooting and general problem solving skills. This is an entry level position.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with clients to assist in receipt of data.
• Secure data management for uploads and downloads of data/assets/deliveries.
• Monitor the render farm to keep it operating at maximum eciency.
• Provide a consistent and professional level of departmental technical expertise and support to production teams and artists.
• Communicate and prioritize information with Production and adjust render farm

priorities.

• Maintain and oversee all production-related data, both online (disk) and offline (tape).
• Ensure consistent data transfer between various studio facilities.
• Troubleshoot and problem solve technical issues as they arise.
• Monitor critical servers, network and file server load as it affects our workflow.

Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of Aspera, MediaShuttle, FTPs, Dropbox a plus.
• BA/BS preferred, or work experience.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work with short deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with render farm systems and management, a plus.
• Flexible and available for extended hours as needed.
• General technical savviness is a must.
