Position Overview:

Responsible for standardizing and developing product packaging requirements to deliver a consistently exceptional product experience to our customers. Works collaboratively with Product Development, Sourcing, Quality, Sales/Marketing, and Warehousing to ensure all packaging meets or exceeds the requirements of the specific stakeholder while maintaining an Environmentally Positive (Low Carbon Footprint) Impact.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

Existing Products:

 Evaluate existing products for potential standardization of carton sizes and/or poly bags.

 Evaluate all existing products for potential packaging improvements to enhance the customer experience and ensure no in-transit damage to the products.

New Products:

 Work with Product Development and Product Management to design packaging that meets the needs of the given product(s) while maintaining:

o Customer and marketplace compliant designs and materials according to customer specifications.

o Compliance to company and eCommerce shipping standards by reviewing and testing physical product samples.

o Cost Constraints for single-use containers.

o Environmentally friendly standards for sustainability.

o Safety Compliant materials to ensure End Customer Safety.

Standards and Documentation:

 Develop and Document Customer Related Packaging Standards for deployment to all manufacturing stakeholders.

 Maintain and report changes in material costing and manufacturing as they relate to packaging materials globally.

 Research and develop new packaging alternatives to control overall costing and maintain a “Green Focus” for downstream disposal.

 Establish and monitor quality check processes to approve and validate manufacturing stakeholders are adhering to packaging guidelines.

 Act as a technical resource and safety consultant regarding appropriate statutory, regulatory, and product safety requirements both domestically and abroad.

 Provide education both internal and external as needed on product safety regulations and trends in regulations, and standards for the global marketplace.

Provide vendor training on Internal Processes as well as Technical, Regulations, and Standards.

Reasons we want you on the team:

 B.S. in Packaging Engineering or equivalent.

 3-5 years in a multi-disciplined manufacturing or retail industry role, preferably in Packaging Engineering.

 Strong understanding of CPSC (Consumer Products Safety Commission) standards and regulations (US and International) as they relate to packaging materials.

 Product engineering, safety and reliability experience.

 Knowledge of packaging requirements for both hardline (injection molding, metals, glass, ceramics, stone etc.) and Softline consumer products.

 Proficiency with CAD Software (Solidworks) for developing packaging designs.

 Proficiency with Graphics Software for developing “Box Art” and “Printed Poly-Bag Art” as required for packaging materials.

 Proficiency in MS Office with proven excel spreadsheet skills.

 Ability to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and fellow co-workers in a Multinational environment.

 Ability to learn new processes and adapt to new systems and methods.

 Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Must be self-motivated to handle multiple tasks in a constantly changing environment.

 A valid passport and the ability to travel up to 10-15% both domestically & internationally.
