Product Manager - Li-Ion
European Recruitment are working closely with a leading battery company, based in Cambridge, who are looking for a talented Product Manager with Li-Ion experience to join their team.
In this role you will be responsible for developing and validating cells for various applications. The position works closely with various internal groups (Product Development, Process, Test Lab, Advanced R&D and Program Management) and external groups (partners and external test labs) to ensure successful and timely product launch that meets application requirements.
Responsibilities as Product Manager - Li-Ion:
- Support next generation cells development.
- Identify competing technologies through industry report, cost modelling and internal teardowns. Assess strengths and weaknesses. As needed, define and drive development projects to gain and maintain competitiveness.
- Align internal development targets by ensuring feedback to product development and advanced R&D groups.
- Develop and manage partner and industry requirements for different applications.
- Identify, drive and support process development efforts on each process area critical to product attributes. Highlight and quantify impact of current process capability on product performance. Help define process requirement.
- Develop methods and understanding that predict large scale processability of a given design/material and minimize future pre-work. Closely collaborate with appropriate SMEs.
- Closely collaborate with Product lead, Process SME, Operations and Quality teams on product and process development efforts and sample builds.
Requirements:
- Knowledge on different application requirements (EV, ESS, e-mobility and consumer electronics) and required standards and certification is required.
- Experience in Li-ion manufacturing is desired
- Experience in Li-ion cell design is required.
- 7+ years’ experience in Li‐ion cell testing and validation is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry or related field
Desirable Experience:
- Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Established network of contacts within the battery industry
- Experience with APQP or equivalent product quality systems and SPC
- Experience working in a startup‐type environment
