Job Description
Overview:
As the Documentation Manager, you will be responsible for the creation and execution of documentation of the Origami Risk software application including both historical functionality as well as new functionality as released. As a player/coach, you will participate in the creation of content while also managing a team of internal and external technical writers.

Starting base pay for this role is between $100,000 and $130,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, training, location, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role will also be eligible for bonus as well as competitive medical, dental and vision benefits, 401(k) with company match, and a flexible time off policy in most locations.

Responsibilities:
  • Manages team of internal technical writers.
  • Creates an annualized project plan and prioritized approach to identification and completion of documentation for existing solutions and functionality including quarterly progress milestones.
  • Mentors, trains, and champions team members; fill resource gaps where appropriate by first exploiting bottlenecks and then adding resources as needed.
  • Champions and models Origami Risk’s values (Prioritize Clients’ Trust and Success, Innovate with an Entrepreneurial Spirit, Collaborate and Win as a Team).
  • Identifies and executions on process for efficient and timely creation of documentation for new functionality through alignment with product management, development, QA, and solution engineering.
  • Defines and maintains a style guide and terminology list.
  • Collaborates with Learning and Enablement teams regarding their use of documentation as well as the identification and use of subject matter experts.
  • Manages relationship with external technical writer partners.
  • Ensures adherence to creation and publishing of release notes within defined process for release communications.
  • Establishes workflow and best practices for technical writers and supporting resources in collaboration with Product and Development operation leads to create release notes and documentation.
  • Create common methodologies with UI/UX team specific to consistency of approach for in-application documentation.
  • Supports the workflow for supporting demo videos in collaboration with Product and Marketing.
  • Participates with key colleagues around timeliness of documentation for launch and release of new functionality including solution engineering and marketing.
  • Manages tool (MadCap Flare) for writing and distribution of release notes and help documentation.
  • Ensures output is consumable by target audience through both conversation and metric-based reporting on usability of documentation.
  • Ability to deeply learn Origami products across multiple markets.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Creates documentation that is catered towards the appropriate internal (service & sales) and external (clients & SI) audiences.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree required
  • 7+ years of technical writing experience for SaaS required
  • 3+ years of leading a technical writing team or projects
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Experience with Origami product across multiple markets appreciated but not required
  • Experience working in an agile environment a plus
  • Proficient with development ticket tracking systems, preferably Jira
  • Experience using video screen capture tools
  • Balance of documentation goals against larger organization initiatives to drive efficiency of documentation efforts and use of SME
  • Experience developing in-application help appreciated but not required
  • Experience working with MadCap Flare
  • Project Management and Process creation experience
