PRODUCT DEVELOPER
Success Profile:
The Product Developer is the PLM Teck Pack expert on the Product Development team, initiating and managing tech packs. Hardworking, hands-on, with the technical know-how to navigate through Gerber yuniquePLM and manage data including style information, measurements, fit evaluations, construction, and more. Communicates daily – and proactively – to maintain factory communications, answering questions, managing timeline and tech pack priorities.
Key Accountabilities:
- Materials and Trims: Ownership of material library. Maintains seasonal material development binders and master swatch binders. Communicates with material suppliers and vendors regarding sample materials. Partners with mills. Responsible for sourcing and maintaining season material, trim and color libraries. Check in samples/make sure tickets/trims/fabrics/ are correct.
- Logistics and Organization: Coordinate package deliveries and organize samples promptly.
- Communication: Maintain daily communication with vendors and suppliers regarding all aspects of sample development. Communicate with vendors to ensure new developments are shared with design and tracking all new trim development. Setting up tech packs and sending information to the factories with sketch and basic details.
- Costing: Organize cost information from vendors for all new fabric, trim, and graphic development. Create and maintain costing documents through sample stages and into market.
Education and Experience:
- Experience with tech packs.
- College degree, or equivalent professional work experience, required
- Experience in a high SKU count environment, required
- Knowledge of design, product development, and production process
- Proficiency in garment construction, stitches, gauges, and specs
- Minimum of Four(4) years of product development professional work
- Hands-on experience initiating tech packs using PLM for all categories of apparel product management, required
- Experience with apparel timelines, calendars, and development process
Skills and Behaviors:
- Proficient knowledge of PLM, Illustrator, Photoshop
- Motivated to work in a high energy environment at the speed of fashion with ever-changing priorities
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with other departments as well as vendors and other overseas offices
- Technical skill proficiency using CAD and Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop, an asset
- Ability to work independently and work to meet multiple deadlines
- Confident, engaging verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced MS Excel skills: data manipulation, pivot tables, v-lookup
- Strong project management and multi-tasking skills with critical attention to detail
