SLG Procurement Specialist

Key Accountabilities:
- Manage operational issues related to supply challenges.
- Deploy supply risk assessment and mitigation programs to ensure business continuity.
- Act as the Procurement representative in dealing with key internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, better efficiency and other areas of improvement; recommend and implement policy or process changes as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers driving optimized value.
- Negotiate, implement, and manage strategic contracts to ensure optimum cost and reliable supply.
- Develop and implement processes to streamline price quotation requests, sourcing requests from new suppliers or new vendors, and sample requests efficiently.
- Collaborate with Business Unit’s leadership and functional partners on strategy development, innovation, continuous improvement plans.
Required Education and Experience:
- Physical ability to: communicate clearly and accurately, operate a computer and other office equipment.
- Analytical skills; ability to understand complicated concepts and use systems and data to solve and prevent problems.
- Strongly preferred: 5+ years in shipping/logistics/supply chain management industry.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
- Ability to persuade and lead. Ability to recognize and cultivate talent and develop high-potential employees into high-performing employees.
- Compelling, tactful negotiation and ability to create mutual wins.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Strongly preferred: 3+ years in transportation pricing and/or procurement - preferably domestic and ocean.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Advanced-level Excel knowledge.
