Job Description
About The Opportunity


Provides scientific and technical leadership in the management, design, and conducting of the entire research program within the WIoT Institute. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and establishing standards for the research to be conducted on topics related to wireless communications and networking; publishing findings; obtaining new grants; developing project budget; interviewing, hiring, and managing all professional and technical staff; and supervising students. The appointee assumes full responsibility for the complete program of investigation.


Minimum Qualifications


Must have a PhD and demonstrate outstanding attainment in WIoT research as reflected in the number of important publications, inventions, open source contributions, or equivalent efforts, at least some of which have had recognition within the discipline; demonstrated project management experience, including supervisory, budgetary, and general administrative skills. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, and documentation skills are essential, as are time-management and organizational skills. Proposal preparations for sponsored research funding, research experience involving experiments, and projects. Knowledge and skills are normally acquired through completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent, with progressively more advanced research experience. Management experience highly desired with background and expertise that fit with the specific needs of the Institute, a curriculum vitae, one print of prior scientific publications, and the names and contact information of three to five references through the website. References will only be sought for finalists.


Key Responsibilities


Responsible for the technical aspects of entire research program within the WIoT Institute (design, deploy, operate) for advanced wireless research program. Provide technical support throughout the lifecycle of the project/program: Including definition of the reference architecture, taken charging system and interfaces, technical liaison. Experience with large scale open source projects in communications and networking is highly desirable.


Program management support to projects to meet cost, scope and schedule metrics set forth by the research program.


Write grant proposals and presentations


Qualifications


(i) the ability to work collaboratively with and provide


services to the wireless research community;


(ii) effective management of infrastructure projects with a


large wireless component, including planning, deployment, and operations;


(iii) effective management of large-scale wireless and software-intensive projects, including design, implementation, and lifecycle


management;


iv) technical report editing and web-based publications;


(v) communication and outreach to the broader scientific community and the general public,
