Job Description

In the Principal, New Hire Strategy role, you'll manage a strategic onboarding program aimed at enabling new hires to thrive on their Toast journey from day one through early production and cross-skilling. You are responsible for the overall strategy and success of the new hire programs for our Customer Care teams, and will partner closely with Care leadership, quality assurance, learning design, training, and cross-functional stakeholders to build high-impact experiences that drive role readiness and employee engagement.


You’ll assess the current state of the new hire programs and prioritize areas for optimization around core competencies, learning strategy, scalability, course health, mentorships, nesting, and early production. Through these areas, you will establish success metrics and holistic learning journeys for various roles across the Care team.


About this roll* (Responsibilities)


  • Develop a strategic, scalable new hire program for multiple customer-facing Care roles, owning the overall success of these programs from day one through ramp time
  • Develop feedback loops from trainers that inform our hiring strategy
  • Introduce new enablement strategies to drive innovative and effective learning experiences to increase role readiness and employee engagement.
  • Work cross-functionally with both our learning design team and trainers to ensure that program is executed flawlessly
  • Measure and report on program effectiveness, then incorporate actions needed to keep driving improvement on identified areas of opportunity
  • Work closely with Care operations leadership to ensure new hire program strategy is in line with our goals and creating the expected outcomes


Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)


  • Demonstrated experience in driving transformation efforts of enablement programs
  • 5-7 years of program management and enablement experience
  • Thrive working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with ambiguity
  • 5-10% travel required
  • Experience in succeeding in highly cross-functional roles, and history of successfully championing your priorities
  • History of success driving measurable results from modern, innovative, and interactive learning strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to make data-driven decisions and define priorities
  • Experience driving new hire enablement strategy
  • Passionate about the learner experience and always looking for ways to improve skills and learn new things.

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.


Pay Range


$96,000—$154,000 USD
