Job Responsibilities

• Prepares order to report forms for parcels for delivery to inmates during daily mail call.
• Provides security while mail is being transported between facilities.
• Assists postal center director with investigation of forgery and other violations of postal regulations.
• Censors and/or searches outgoing and incoming inmate mail and parcels.
• Receives and delivers mail and small parcels to and from U. S. Postal facilities serving the institution.
• Assists the postal center director with providing training to each unit staff member selected to provide mail call in each unit.
• Prepares various logs and reports on a daily postal activities.
• Inspects and prepares outgoing mail and parcels of inmates; prepares institution mail to include numbered insured, certified, and registered for delivery to the post office daily.

Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum And Additional Requirements
South Carolina State Minimum Requirements:
A High School diploma and work experience in postal, courier, or delivery operations.
SCDC Minimum Requirements: (Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

• A associates' degree may be substituted for the required program experience.
• One (1) year experience in postal operations or any equivalent combination of education, training or work experience.
• A High School diploma.
