Job Responsibilities

• Makes emergency repairs to electrical systems and equipment.
• General maintenance.
• Water distribution.
• Performs on-the-job training of inmates.
• HVAC.
• Plumbing.
• Ensures completion of installation/repairs.
• Reads blueprints and wiring diagrams and makes take-offs.
• Requires cross-training in other areas of the maintenance field to include:
• Requisitions materials & parts needed.
• Plans electrical work including repairs to high voltage equipment and systems.
• Supervises and assists in the performance of maintenance and preventive maintenance of electrical fire alarms, CCTV, electronic security, PA, intercom & high voltage distribution systems, emergency generators & equipment.
• Wastewater treatment.

Must successfully complete eight (8) week SCDC Basic Training upon hire

Minimum And Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and experience in construction or repair of secondary electrical systems. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis.
SCDC Minimum Requirements: (Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

• A high school diploma and Five (5) years of extensive working knowledge of the principles and techniques of electrical systems including high and low voltage and general maintenance repairs.

Resume preferred, but not required. License(s) and certification(s) must be submitted to be considered for position.
