Polymer Engineer Jobs

Performance Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Polymer/Chemical Engineer to join our team in Akron, OH. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in engineering, with a focus on polymers, and have at least 5 years of relevant industry experience. The ideal candidate will have expertise in natural and synthetic rubber, as well as extensive knowledge of extrusion processes. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct research and development activities to optimize polymer formulations, processes, and properties
• Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and waste minimization, proposing and implementing relevant improvements
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and trends in polymer science and engineering, sharing knowledge and insights with the team
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new products and improve existing ones, ensuring they meet customer requirements and industry standards
• Provide technical expertise and support to manufacturing operations, troubleshooting issues related to extrusion processes and polymer materials
• Analyze and interpret experimental data, preparing reports and presenting findings to management and stakeholders
• Develop and implement quality control procedures and test methods to ensure consistent product quality and compliance with specifications
• Work closely with suppliers and external partners to evaluate new materials and technologies for potential use in product development
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Design and execute experiments to characterize and evaluate the performance of polymer materials, with an emphasis on natural and synthetic rubber
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies throughout all stages of product development and manufacturing

Job Qualifications

• Ability to travel 10% of the time, including overnight travel
• Proficiency in extrusion processes, with hands-on experience in designing and optimizing extrusion lines
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations governing polymer materials and processes
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a polymer engineering role, preferably in the rubber industry
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present technical information to diverse audiences
• Demonstrated ability to plan, execute, and analyze experiments, utilizing statistical tools and methodologies
• Self-motivated and proactive, with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong knowledge of polymer chemistry, processing techniques, and structure-property relationships
• Experience with natural and synthetic rubber, including compounding and vulcanization processes
