Job Description
Early Professional

A Snapshot of Your Day

This is an early professional or recent college graduate level position located in Orlando, Florida.

As a large gas turbine performance and negotiation lead engineer, you will find yourself in the rewarding position of working directly on customer proposals for gas turbine based power plants across the globe.

A typical day might look like this:

You attend an early morning virtual meeting with colleagues from Europe and Asia to discuss customer requirements for an upcoming proposal. In this meeting, you provide insights into various operational and performance capabilities of our gas turbine portfolio to help shape the bidding strategy.

During a mid-morning project review meeting, you present one of your projects to management for approval and final release. In preparation for this review, you have spent weeks collaborating with various engineering disciplines, sales, marketing, and service colleagues to produce a comprehensive risk assessment and the thermodynamic guarantees that will be provided to our external customers.

Later, you receive updated documentation from our Combustion department, indicating that some previously guaranteed thermodynamic parameters might be impacted. You then analyze the technical impacts to those projects and help determine potential mitigations in a report for management decision.

Then, you might finish out your day running multiple performance cases, training on newly released products, proposing improvements to existing processes or tools, supporting a customer clarification meeting, or just discussing relevant topics with the other members of our very experienced team.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Resolve topics arising during bid preparation in support of overall bid schedule
  • Present technical bid specifics to management for approval at release meetings
  • Coordinate the evaluation of technical risks and the development of mitigation measures
  • Lead a technical bid support team in preparation of the technical limits documentation
  • Provide technical sales support during contract negotiations with the customer
  • Calculate and optimize gas turbine thermodynamic performance for customer guarantees
  • Review and assess customer requirements to optimize bid competitiveness
  • Clarify critical issues with management and project managers

What You Bring

  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
  • Basic understanding of gas turbines, turbo machinery, or power generation preferred
  • Engineering graduate/postgraduate degree preferably in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering
  • Intercultural experience/sensitivity
  • Proficiency in technical writing and conducting formal presentations
  • Teamwork skills: Be comfortable leading an expert team from multiple time zones and cultures to answer technical questions and to perform risk assessments.
  • Experience with thermodynamic modelling software programs preferred
  • Networking skills: Ability to establish relationships and build networks in a global team setup and interface with other groups across the organization
  • Candidate must have the ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines on time.
