The Disney Global Network (DGN) is the core of all company digital communications. It is a necessity that the DGN is a resilient platform, so constant monitoring of the overall network performance is necessary to decide if changes need to be made to the infrastructure. This job supports Company-wide objectives by architecting, designing, and driving successful implementation of network transport that underpins the global business operations. This position works closely with key stakeholders to develop strategies, gathers requirements, recommends vendors/providers, and designs end-to-end solutions.

The Network Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video and wireless network services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the Network Engineer will participate with requirement gathering and the design, installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links.

The Network Engineer is responsible for:

• As part of the Life Cycle effort, responsible for assisting in the testing and certification of all new and existing equipment, including hardware and software upgrades. As new software versions and patches are released, completing the certification process, and then working with third party resources to get all devices upgraded across the enterprise. This ensures the most efficient operations of the network through ongoing monitoring of the device life cycle and replacing equipment that has reached end of life.
• Collaborating with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to communicate Disney’s network strategy, architecture and standards and reviews the Supplier recommended solutions/projects to ensure the design meets the business needs. Also, monitors the supplier’s adherence to strategy, architecture and standards during and after Supplier implementation.
• Responsible for understanding and interpreting technical and business requirements, from multiple business units, pertaining to the application of digital communications technology (voice, video and data) on a global basis. This includes participation in discovery, documentation, validation/refinement of the technical solution while considering opportunities to re-use existing equipment.
• Developing enterprise-wide telecommunications strategies and architecture encompassing a wide breadth of transport topologies (WAN / MAN / LAN, WLAN, Satellite, Cellular), advanced services (network optimization, server load balancing, QoS/RSVP) and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, BGP, multicast). The Network Engineer collaborates with other architecture teams (telecom, server, client, security and application) during all phases of the infrastructure lifecycle.

Requirements for the position include:

• Should have had experience in network security, wireless, LAN, and WAN.
• Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Ability to architect world-class, large-scale data networks for global enterprises that maximize security, performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
• 3+ years in an enterprise environment that operates 7x24 services to a multitude of customers and business units with a progression of responsibilities spanning operations, implementation, design, and architecture.
• Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Must be able to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT.
• Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.
• Engineers should be able to think through problems and provide solutions for them. Need to be able to learn quickly about new technology and product related details.
• Must have a good understanding of hardware and network infrastructure.
