Position Summary


Under the supervision of the Head of Human Resources, the Payroll Specialist contributes to the success of the business by managing all aspects of the company’s payroll function and assisting in the administration of employee benefits.


Key Responsibilities


  • Respond to unemployment disability, and garnishment notices in a timely manner.
  • Produce all relevant payroll reports as needed.
  • Assist in preparing internal billing statements.
  • Oversee sick time and PTO accruals for multiple companies in accordance with state laws
  • Review and process employee benefit programs payments
  • Open, close, and maintain multi-state tax accounts.
  • At all times maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in regard to employee and company records.
  • Provide backup support to other team members and departments.
  • Process and oversee semi-monthly multi-state and multi-company payrolls.
  • Maintain compliance with state and local agencies by completing required employee data reports in a timely manner.
  • Keep up with current payroll regulations and tax law changes and update accordingly.
  • Prepare 401k contribution files based on payroll data.
  • Administer audit checks to validate accuracy of payroll (pre check and post checks)
  • Process special requests, off-cycle payroll and severance payments as needed
  • Respond to questions from employees regarding paychecks, direct deposit, W-2s, and/or general payroll questions.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • BA Degree in business, accounting, or relevant field
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with accuracy, prioritize multiple tasks, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in payroll.
  • Ability to interact with all departments and employees.

Experience using HRIS/ payroll systems, Paycor experience is preferred
