Job Description

We are recruiting for a Payroll Specialist to join an organization that is in rapid growth and expected to continue to grow over the next few years. This position is newly created and will report to a strong HR Leader. Our client offers a generous benefits package and a flexible work schedule. Salary range: $28.00/hr.-$32.00/hr.


The ideal candidate will have processed payroll for a minimum of 500 employees in a multi-state environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Promptly responds to employee inquiries regarding payroll and resolves any questions and concerns that arise.
  • Research and help resolve issues related to payroll
  • Prepare payroll reports for accounting staff and HR as needed
  • Responsible for the termination process including but not limited to, preparing manual checks
  • At the time of Payroll Processing - Review the Payroll Register validating that the changes manually input is correctly reflected in the paycheck
  • Data entry and processing of stipends and bonuses.
  • Prepare and process semi-monthly payroll timely and accurately
  • Maintains the electronic files for employees, on the company’s shared drive
  • Data entry and coordination of payroll data such as garnishments, paid time off, benefit deductions, and all other required withholdings.
  • Complete employment verifications
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Assist with special projects in Payroll and HR technology processes
  • Respond to unemployment claims and benefit audits
  • Assist with audits to ensure compliance with Federal & State Laws and Regulations
  • Reviews all time & attendance entries to ensure that all hours have been properly and accurately recorded in addition to overtime and payroll exceptions, if applicable, have been approved


Skills and Qualification:

  • Reliability, dependability, and flexibility.
  • Problem-solving ability and proven accuracy with detailed information.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now is highly preferred
  • Computer-literate; knowledge of standard company software applications, internet
  • High School Diploma, equivalent or two-year degree plus minimum 3-5 years of payroll experience or equivalent combinations of training and experience
  • Expanded knowledge of State and Federal employment laws and Human Resource policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of standard business practices and procedures, including basic HR practices.
  • Organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, and possess excellent time management and
