Job Description
Rowan has completely reimagined the ear piercing experience and revolutionized the traditional mall-based model. All our piercings are performed exclusively by licensed Nurses. Rowan is looking for a Payroll & Benefits Coordinator to support the People team, as well as help administer policies, procedures, and processes that ensure the best employee experience. Reporting directly to Talent & Employee Experience Manager, you will be responsible for managing Payroll, Benefits, and Leave coordination for the entire company. The Payroll & Benefits Coordinator will work closely with the entire People team to ensure all future and current employees at Rowan have the best experience possible, while simultaneously ensuring our internal team feels supported.


What you'll be doing:


  • Manage and administer bi-weekly Payroll for the entire company and serve as the main point of contact for all payroll questions. Serve as the main point of contact for the HR system at Rowan.
  • Communicate, manage, assist with, and track all forms of Employee Leave, including parental leave, LOAs, military leave, extended sick leave, workers comp leave, etc.
  • Assure Rowan is in compliance with local, federal, and state requirements for any and all HR and Payroll processes.
  • Perform other People team related duties, as needed.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all Workers Compensation communications, internally with employees and managers and externally with our Insurance partner.
  • Assist Talent and Employee Experience Specialist with escalation of HR inbox and facilitation of Lifecycle tasks.
  • Own the Reporting and data for the entire People team, including pulling and managing reports from the HRIS and creating dashboards, as requested and necessary. Manage Exit Interview and Turnover Reporting
  • Manage Benefits offerings in current and potential future locations as Rowan continues to expand, including health insurance, 401k, etc. Serve as the internal main point of contact for all benefit related questions, and the main point of contact for all external benefits platforms and brokers. Manage benefit invoicing and deduction set up.


Experience we're looking for:


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures.
  • HR Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP) credential preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Payroll for 200+ employees.
  • Proficient with Google Docs.
  • At least 2 years related experience required, specifically in a rapidly scaling or startup environment, with a successful track record of supporting great teams.
  • Experience with Paylocity is preferred.
