Job Description
AltaPointe Health plans and facilitates a comprehensive, behavioral healthcare system that promotes the wellness and recovery of people living with mental illness, substance use disorders and developmental disability. We are responsible for the public system of mental health, substance use disorder and developmental disability service provision throughout Baldwin, Clay, Coosa, Mobile, Randolph, Talladega, and Washington counties. We facilitate a comprehensive behavioral healthcare continuum through clinical excellence, cultural awareness, and community partnerships. We believe it is our obligation to promote mental health awareness and understanding. We ensure psychiatric competence by educating and training future healthcare professionals. Our care delivery model is characterized by dignity and respect for the individual, patient and family involvement, each patient’s enhanced role functioning and inclusion into the community.
Training Responsibilities
  • Adheres to training compliance with the AltaPointe policies and procedures and all accrediting and licensing entities (i.e. DMH, JC etc.)
  • Conducts presentations on patient’s/individual’s rights, ethics, complaint/grievance procedures, and abuse reporting policies and procedures
  • Works cooperatively with other AltaPointe staff to effectively respond to identify program and staff education and training needs
Patient/Individual Satisfaction Issues:
  • Conducts investigations and compiles reports
  • Works in conjunction with DMH Advocacy Office, when necessary, on solutions of any grievances received by that office relating to AltaPointe services
  • Assists patients/individuals in accessing appropriate services/community resources to meet their needs
  • Follows DMH and JC guidelines, files appropriate reports regarding suspected abuse in AltaPointe programs
  • Have knowledge of and assist with the distribution and summary of Patient/Individual Satisfaction Surveys
  • Follows established complaint/grievance procedures, ensures proper documentation of all complaints and resolutions
  • Serves as active member of the Patient Relations Sub-Committee and Peer Council and provide reports focusing on trends and patterns
  • Meets/speaks with patient/individual requesting resolution to complaint/grievance

  • Knowledge of Investigation Principles and Special Incidents

  • Knowledge of Educational Methods as they relate to staff
  • Knowledge of Cultural Diversity
  • Knowledge of Therapeutic Boundaries
  • Knowledge of Psychiatric Disorders in the adult and child population
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of Environment of Care
  • Knowledge of Infection Control
Possesses a bachelor’s degree in a mental health related field and at least two years clinical experience required.
